Course Details:

This course teaches intial evaluation, treatment and transport of patients with medical problems and trauma. Students learn to recognize and provide initial care for shock, heart and breathing problems, strokes, burns, diabetes, drowning and accidents.

EMT-Basic is the foundation of pre-hospital emergency medical care. They also transport patients requireing continuous monitoring and care.

Our course also includes extracation, clinical observation time and healthcare provider CPR training.

Basic EMT

EMT-B is a person who has:

  • Taken and passed a CPR for Healthcare Providers Course, based on American Heart Association 2005 guidelines.
  • Taken a state-approved, 110 hour (minimum) EMT-B course based on the US Department of Transportation curriculum and passed with a minimum final grade of 80.
  • Passed all of the stations of the state practical exam.
  • Passed the state written certification examination with a minimum score of 70.

Note - Three EMT-B are held annually:

  1. January through April (Tu & Thurs 6pm-10pm and one scheduled Saturday class)
  2. May through August (Mon,Wed,Fri 6pm-10pm and one scheduled Saturday class)
  3. September through December (Tu & Thurs 6pm-10pm and one scheduled Saturday class)

    Space is limited to 30 participants - classes fill up fast!
